The Knights’ season ended at Leigh Sports Village this afternoon with a 70-10 defeat to the much-fancied Leigh Centurions, the victors advancing to next weekend’s Million Pound Game. With a number of first-team players absent through injury – added to by the suspended Danny Kirmond – the Knights were up against it from the start and, when Blake Ferguson opened the scoring with his first of three tries in the third minute, the scale of the task was clear. Knights upset Panthers to progress in Play-Offs

Ladies and Gentlemen, the first York City Knights team to win a Championship Play-Off. The Knights stunned Halifax Panthers at The Shay this evening, in front of the Premier Sports cameras, with a 26-24 victory much the jubilation of both the players and supporters. Going into the game with twelve players out through injury, the Knights lined up with Jamie Ellis in the halves alongside Liam Harris – the former making his first appearance since defeat at Leigh – with Bailey Antrobus and Danny Kirmond in the back-row. The Knights wrapped up this year’s Betfred Championship regular season fixtures with an emphatic 74-12 victory over Workington Town at the LNER Community Stadium to set up a Play-Off Semi-Final next weekend against Halifax Panthers. With Ben Barnard included to make his debut, Bailey Antrobus, Ata Hingano and Ronan Dixon all dropped out from last weekend’s victory over Newcastle Thunder with Joe Porter and Brad Ward returning to the fold. Knights win on Ford and Dixon’s milestone appearances

The Knights crowned James Ford’s 200th game as Head Coach and Ronan Dixon’s 100th York match with a 24-18 victory at Kingston Park over Newcastle Thunder to move fifth in the Betfred Championship ahead of Sunday’s matches. With Chris Clarkson returning to action after missing last weekend’s win over Sheffield, winger Brad Ward dropping out. That meant fellow wideman Joe Brown returned to the flank with Bailey Antrobus moving out of the pack into the left centre role to accommodate our captain’s return. The Knights got back to winning ways tonight at the LNER Community Stadium with a 20-12 victory over Sheffield Eagles with a Liam Harris-inspired performance a vastly improved one from last weekend’s defeat at Leigh Centurions. With Brendan O’Hagan, Jordan Thompson, Danny Kirmond and Ata Hingano all returning to the starting thirteen alongside winger Brad Ward, Head Coach James Ford was able to welcome back a plethora of both experience and talent to his line-up to face Sheffield Eagles but, after starting better, it was the Eagles who hit the front. York City Knights were on the receiving end of one of the heaviest defeats in living memory this afternoon when Leigh Centurions hit a century in victory at Leigh Sports Village. The table-topping hosts crossed for seventeen tries on an afternoon for the Knights to forget with hooker Edwin Ipape and half-back Joe Mellor in particular wreaking havoc among James Ford’s men. The Knights fell to defeat at the hands of rivals Bradford Bulls in an ill-tempered affair at the LNER Community Stadium with the West Yorkshiremen leaving after a 16-20 victory. The Knights secured back-to-back victories in the Betfred Championship at The Tetley’s Stadium with a 22-10 win over relegation-threatened Dewsbury Rams. Going into the match off the back of last weekend’s Summer Bash victory over Newcastle Thunder, Head Coach James Ford was able to call upon new signing Ata Hingano for the first time. The Knights sealed their first victory in five Betfred Championship matches with a 18-27 win over Newcastle Thunder at Headingley Stadium in the closing match of this year’s Summer Bash. After a promising showing last weekend in defeat against Featherstone Rovers, Sunday’s win strengthened the Knights’ hold on a Play-Off spot with six matches remaining this year. York City Knights delivered a much-improved performance but fell to defeat at Featherstone Rovers’ Millenium Stadium this afternoon, the hosts taking the two Betfred Championship points after a 30-22 win. The Knights went into the game off the back of three consecutive defeats against Play-Off rivals and, after last week’s poor display against Batley Bulldogs, a response was required. James Ford’s absence-hit squad certainly delivered that.
