York City Knights Ladies were hit with Grand Final heartbreak after falling to rivals Leeds Rhinos in this afternoon’s Betfred Women’s Super League finale at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Heading over to Merseyside for the Knights’ first-ever Women’s Super League Grand Final, the team will have been full of confidence off the back of winning the League Leaders’ Shield already – a title secured with a final day victory over the Rhinos. York City Knights Ladies this afternoon defeated Wigan Warriors in their Betfred Women’s Super League Play-Off Semi-Final 12-4 at Headingley to seal a first-ever Grand Final appearance! After securing the League Leaders’ Shield last weekend at the same venue – a trophy they would lift after the full-time hooter of today’s match – Lindsay Anfield’s team returned to West Yorkshire to record a fourth win over Wigan in 2022. York City Knights Ladies rounded off their home matches in this year’s Betfred Women’s Super League with a 33-10 victory over Wigan Warriors at the LNER Community Stadium. In the sweltering heat, Director of Rugby Lindsay Anfield named three French debutants in her matchday seventeen, owing to an injury-crisis that left the Knights with only fourteen fit players. York City Knights recorded back-to-back shutout wins to make it five wins from five in the Betfred Women’s Super League, with a 50-0 victory over Huddersfield Giants at the LNER Community Stadium. Having suffered a defeat in the semi-finals of the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup to the Leeds Rhinos, Lindsay Anfield was hoping to see an improved performance and mentality as the Knights travelled to Huddersfield to start their Women’s Super League season.
